Getting Back Into Health
As a nurse, I’ve always tried to be somewhat mindful of my health. I am by no means a health nut but I definitely try to make smarter choices. I exercise 5 times a week, I usually take my vitamins and my water intake has come a long way with the help of my Iron Flask mugs. I try not to eat like a garbage disposal but that’s honestly a work in progress, especially since it’s currently fair and festival season and food is just amazing in general. I’ve always been on the fluffy side, which I’ve learned to accept and embrace. But if having one baby changes your body, having three babies leaves you truly blessed but with a lot of work to do in terms of getting back to health. My chronic neck and back pain also adds an extra level of difficulty to this task and makes maintenance and management both important and tricky. So how am I getting back into things? The answer to that is slowly, carefully and as consistently as possible. I started back up with Beachbody workouts and I have already completed two short programs since being medically cleared after childbirth. I’ve also been running very short distances, anywhere from half a mile to two miles, three times a week and I hope to soon be able to run a 5k. All of this combined with time and work on cardio is helping me to build back strength, endurance and the general routine of working out.
Holistic approaches have also been a big part of my recent health journey. Superhuman protocol with red light therapy and lymph drainage really helped to balance my hormones shortly before my youngest daughter was conceived. I am slowly starting back up with these things when time allows and I am hoping to piece all of these parts together to work toward finding my long-term health plan. Health maintenance is a journey and not necessarily a destination and I’m hoping good habits will help me stick around on this earth for a while.
